From the recording From The Ashes
While some may think I wrote this about myself, I did not. It is written from the perspective of the "excuse-makers" of the world. Either unable or unwilling to be introspective for the benefit of self-evaluation and improvement, they often attribute negative occurrences as bad luck. Their "bad luck" is more often than not, consequences of their decisions coming to fruition.
Lyrics
Just My Luck
2017 Darren Camp/Jamie Godwin
Making waves on shifting burning sand,
Want a drink of water, but there's none around
I'll be damned, somehow, I nearly drowned
One way or another, by luck or from my mother
every time anything starts looking up
I'm a sure bet to self-destruct
That's just luck
Pages torn from the records of myself
on the ground and underfoot
some of the evidence of everything I've got left
of anything that looked like it was good
somehow I'm gonna screw it up
One way or another, by luck or from my mother
every time anything starts looking up
I'm a sure bet to self-destruct
That's just luck
Pages torn from the records of myself
on the ground and underfoot
some of the evidence of everything I've got left
of anything that looked like it was good
somehow I'm gonna screw it up
That's just my luck
That's just my luck
